I have an M.A. in music theory and. When I worked as the music director for a campus ministry, and I learned perhaps my most valuable lesson:
People want to sing.
No matter their background or experience, if their equipment works, they want to use it. They want to make a joyful noise. So I began to write music that was easy for them to sing, easy to learn, easy to remember.
